We aim to make Tilgate Zoo as accessible as possible to everyone.

For a full access guide, view AccessAble’s guide to Tilgate Zoo on their website

Wheelchair access

The zoo is entirely wheelchair accessible but does have some steep inclines, so please bear this in mind before your visit.

Disabled parking

There are two disabled parking bays for blue badge holders near to the entrance of the zoo. Visit the plan your visit page for more details.

Accessible toilet

There is a disabled toilet in the walled garden near the zoo entrance. We also have a toilet with adult hoist and changing table inside the zoo.

Assistance dogs

We only allow assistance dogs into the zoo. Dogs in training and therapy or emotional support dogs are not permitted to enter.

Visitors to Tilgate Park who need to use the toilet with hoist are welcome to come into the zoo without paying an admission charge.

Assistance dogs

To ensure the welfare of our animals and the general health and hygiene of all our guests, we only allow assistance dogs into the zoo. Dogs in training and therapy or emotional support dogs are not permitted to enter.

On arrival, please report to the zoo entrance to show the relevant verification for your assistance dog. We accept:

  • a Blue Badge or PIP letter
  • a signed letter from a recognised health professional on organisational headed paper
  • registration documentation (from Assistance Dogs UK or similar)

You will also need to show evidence of your assistance dog’s vaccination record. They must be wormed and up to date against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and leptospirosis.
